Aachen Model Airship Regatta

The DGLR (Germany Society for Air and Space Travel) held an airship workshop in Aachen, Germany last month.

To coincide with the event, a group of European airship modelers held an "Airship Regatta" at the same time. Past events have taken place all over Germany, as well as in the UK and Italy.

If you would be interested in seeing a similar event take place in the United States, either to participate with a design, or as a spectator to watch the airships compete, let us know via a comment to the blog.

I wouldn't mind watching such an event over here.

Interesting. This reminds me of the Fin-Fish video on vimeo.com, or festo air ray / festo air penguin videos on Youtube. Have a look!

I would appreciate such an event in the US, and of cause try to attend it. An Regatta could be a lot of fun in some big airship shelter.
best greetings from germany,
Andreas

We are seriously considering this for 2012.

We'd like to add some judging related to accuracy (pick up/drop off cargo) and style, as well as the existing speed over a course category.
