Look, Up in the Sky, A Zeppelin! (Lakehurst & Manhattan)

Today we do our first flight over Manhattan. On our way, we will pass Lakehurst. This will be the first flight of a Zeppelin over New York and New Jersey since, well, you know...

Honor the past.

Create the future.

If you are in the Big Apple, look for us in the sky around noon.

Weather permitting, we will have another flight over the city later in the week.

Additionally, we are offering a number of flightseeing tours over Philadelphia, ranging from 45 minutes, to 1 hour. To book flights, call 650-969-8100 and speak with reservations.

Airship Based LIDAR

Over the past year we have been investigating the use of airship mounted LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging).

We have been working with Airbone 1 and have done a test fit of their equipment (manufactured by Optech.)

Some of the cool applications include:
  • Flood plain mapping
  • Terrain modeling
  • Power Line/Catenary models
  • 3D City Maps
  • Vegetation/Biomass estimation

If you are interested in learning more about the unique opportunity presented in the marriage of the stability and extended mission time presented by airships, with the 3-D image mapping available via LIDAR, please contact our special missions group.

Turns out this is the SS United States, who still holds the Blue Riband for fastest crossing of the Atlantic by a passenger liner.
