Around the World in 80 Days, Around the Bay in 60 Minutes!

"Around the World in 80 Days" is playing this month, through Dec 21, at the San Jose Repertory Theater.

Stampeding elephants! Raging typhoons! Runaway trains! Unabashedly high-spirited fun! This globe-trotting epic is the original “Amazing Race.” Fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg has agreed to an outrageous wager that puts his life and fortune at risk. With his loyal French manservant, Passepartout, by his
side, Fogg sets off to circumnavigate the globe in a mere 80 days. To complicate matters, the bumbling, inept lawman, Detective Fix, has mistaken Fogg for a notorious bank robber and tenaciously dogs Fogg’s footsteps around the globe. The tension builds as danger, romance, and hilarious surprises abound in this whirlwind, family fare adventure across seven continents.

Attend the show, and you have an opportunity to enter a drawing to win an exciting opportunity to travel “Around the Bay in 60 Minutes” on Airship Ventures’ Zeppelin NT Airship "Eureka." 1. Minor quibble: The name is Phileas Fogg, not Phineas. I heard and read "Phineas" for many years before seeing the movie or reading Verne's book. So this mistake appears to be widespread, but the name is correct at the website you cited, so you probably ought to match it.

  2. Phileas Fogg accepts a wager to prove his contention that a man can go around the world in 80 days. After betting his entire fortune, he takes his new butler (a man hoping for a quite life) on a tour of the world. However, just before the time he leaves, the Bank of England is robbed and a Detective believes that Fogg is the guilty party and he sets out after him.
